FIRST Robotics |

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology: FIRST Robotics is an example of an extracurricular enterprise that exercises and entertains the minds of millions of high school students world-wide.
Between 1992 and now, the FIRST of the year has meant more than the dawn of a new year, it has meant a new game and a new chance to compete with peers in a challenging and electrifying environment. From the beginning of January to the middle of February, students work nearly every day before school, after school, weekends, and any other times that are available to build, wire, program, and test a five foot tall 120 lb machine.
On the cutting edge, FIRST Embraces Technology like no other high school engineering program out there. During the six weeks of build season, students are given the opportunity of a lifetime to Educate themselves and others in a professional environment. With teams from all over the earth, FIRST is helping to Empower the World by providing thousands with the resources to make something of themselves on a macrocosmic scale. Imagination and Innovation are what make FIRST Robotics the challenge and reward that it is. One could almost call it Imaginovative… |

E-Waste Collection Day |
When: Saturday, March 24th, 10am-4pm Where: Jefferson High School - Auto Lab Garage
Team 1646 will be working with Vintage Tech Recyclers, Inc. and offer the people of the Lafayette community an opportunity to drop their old and unused electronic devices. This includes: computers, laptops, monitors, televisions, printers, mice, keyboards, wires, and similar electronic devices. Since it is now against Indiana law to throw away such devices in the trash, this is the a perfect opportunity to help FIRST Team 1646 as well as the environment. Team 1646 needs to tell their friends, family, and neighbors about this upcoming event. This event will count towards a student’s outreach hours. Students would be needed to man the collection site to make sure people put their devices in the correct boxes and maybe assist those that need help unloading their vehicles. Now go out and let people know about this upcoming event that helps the environment, our community, and your team! |
