In the past two weeks, Precision Guessworks has still been working to improve the robot, Cletus. On the last week of build season, the team went to the open house held in West Lafayette High School. At the open house, the teams presented their robots, websites, and goals for the year. Also, there was a small game simulation to demonstrate what the robots could do at that point in time. After the open house, the team had two days to get Cletus mostly completed before it was shipped. The only parts that team did not send were the hanging mechanism and the roller. The arm that is going to be used in hanging is being tested and repaired. The winch that is going to be used is casing problems for the team. After many tests, it was concluded that the cable being used was the problem. Now the team is waiting for the new cable to arrive to test it. The roller on the robot will be used to grab the balls in place for Cletus to hit them. The problem the team has is finding the right material to be used in the roller. Most of the materials the team has tested either have too much friction or no friction at all. Also, some materials seem to work as wanted, but damage the soccer balls. This damage would cause penalties for the team, so those materials can’t be used. The team is still testing materials for the roller. |
